OVERWHELMING COURAGE
Welcome to 30/06 and the OVERWHELMING COURAGE TO HAVE is in 1 Samuel 30/06-
"And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God."
David and his army came back to their homes and found out that their city had been burnt while all their family members were taken captives - "So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives."
These dastardly acts gave him
1. INTERNAL DISTRESS - "And David was greatly distressed"
2. EXTERNAL DISTRESS - "for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters"
Despite the internal and external distress, David chose to encourage himself in the LORD his God - "but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God."
That encouragement made him to enquire of the Lord who told him what to do and promised him total recovery - "And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all." vs 8
Armed with this overwhelming courage, David rallied his men and they pursued, overtook their assailants to recover all without fail.
- No matter what came your way in the last six months of this year, you will need overwhelming courage to become an overcomer in the coming days.
- No matter the internal and external distress around you, you will need overwhelming courage not to be depressed and defeated.
- No matter the challenges and crises confronting you, you will need overwhelming courage to conquer them.
- No matter the uncertainties in and around you, you will need to overcome them courageously and overturn them favourably.
PRAYER
O LORD, LET ME ALWAYS ENCOURAGE MYSELF IN YOU TO OVERCOME AND OVERTURN EVERY CRISIS AND CHALLENGE IN JESUS' NAME.
